Before starting Calderon Law firm, Jose spent several years working for some of the best personal injury law firms in this state. After representing hundreds of clients in a variety of personal injury cases, he realized he had to do things his own way in order to better represent his clients. Although the firm has grown rapidly, Jose still connects with every client personally and puts his all into fighting and winning their cases.
Jose’s achievements quickly garnered the attention of the legal community, earning him a place on The National Trial Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40 list by his second year of practice, as well as a spot on the Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars list every year since 2020 — an honor awarded to fewer than 2.5% of attorneys statewide. Although he’s primarily a trial lawyer, Jose has also argued before the Texas Tenth Court of Appeals in a rare live session in front of judges and students, underscoring his skill as an advocate across all levels of the Texas court system.
A Houston native and proud first-generation son of Mexican immigrants, Jose is fluent in Spanish and serves a diverse clientele from across the world. His deep commitment to justice started early, shaped by volunteer work with nonprofits, including the Workers Defense Project and the Austin Tenants’ Council. There, he stood up for individuals facing unlawful evictions and unsafe housing conditions, igniting his passion for helping others. Today, Jose continues to give back, handling select tenant and landlord cases pro bono.
Jose holds a degree in History from the University of Texas, where he was a member of the Phi Alpha Theta honor society, and earned his law degree from South Texas College of Law Houston on a Dean’s Merit Scholarship. Calderon Law Firm’s values are built on Jose’s unique background, bilingual fluency, and tenacity for justice, and are why Calderon Law Firm provides high-quality client care and unbeatable results.
