Jonathan is an experienced trial lawyers, focused mostly on complex commercial and real estate related litigation. He has tried dozens of cases in both federal and state courts throughout the United States involving a wide range of business issues. He has handled arbitrations, nationwide class actions and appeals, and has litigated corporate, real estate, securities, employment and fraud cases of all kinds.

Jonathan’s clients range from national homebuilders to internet start-ups, from real estate developers to Silicon Valley software companies, and from individuals and private partnerships to public Fortune 500 corporations. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants.

Jonathan was born and raised in England, where he was admitted as a barrister, and for a number of years taught law at the University of Cambridge where he was a Fellow of Churchill College. He was also a Fulbright Scholar and after coming to the United States taught at Stanford Law School. He is the author of two books, as well as numerous articles, and has frequently lectured on legal issues.

Among his many accolades, Jonathan has been named among Northern California Super Lawyers in 2005 and from 2012-2020. This peer designation is awarded only to a select number of accomplished attorneys in each state. The Super Lawyers selection process takes into account peer recognition, professional achievement in legal practice, and other cogent factors. Jonathan has also been recognized as one of the “Top Attorneys” in Northern California by the American Registry, and is a Senior Fellow of Litigation Counsel of America, the  Trial Lawyer Honorary Society.  He is a member of the State Bar of California, Litigation and International Sections, The Association of Business Trial Lawyers, and The American Bar Association, Litigation and Antitrust Sections, and serves of the Trial Evidence Committee.

In his limited spare time, Jonathan is a huge fan of motorsports and vintage cars, and he races in both open and closed wheel vintage series with clubs such as CSRG, HMSA, and SVRA, among others. Jonathan lives in San Francisco with his wife, Nina, and is proud to be the founding member of Kitchen Law Group, after having tremendous success with firms such as Baker & McKenzie,  and more recently, Cox Castle & Nicolson, LLP. Jonathan is also an avid sailor, writer, and a seasoned traveler.
