A notorious night-owl, Jennifer is our lead litigator. She focuses on commercial, oil and gas, probate, and trust litigation, and appeals.
Jennifer received her undergraduate degree from the Metropolitan State University of Denver, and her law degree from the University of Colorado, where she was a published member of the Colorado Journal of International Law & Policy. She is admitted to practice in Colorado, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Jennifer is currently a member of the American Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, the Larimer County Bar Association, and the Weld County Bar Association, and of CREW Northern Colorado. She has served as a member of the board of directors of CREW Northern Colorado and the Weld Food Bank. She was inducted into the 40 Under 40 Hall of Fame by the Northern Colorado Business Report (now BizWest), and was awarded a certificate of completion of the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Leadership Program. Jennifer has also been accepted as a member of the Lawyers of Distinction. The Lawyers of Distinction is recognized as the fastest growing community of distinguished lawyers in the United States. Membership is limited to the top 10% of attorneys in the United States.
While a member of the board of the Weld County Bar Association, Jennifer served as one of its representatives to the Board of Governors of the Colorado Bar Association. She is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, serving as a District Vice President in 2008-2009 and on the Ethics Committee, the Colorado Womens’ Bar Association, and the Larimer County Bar Association. She previously served as the Weld County Bar Association President from 2010-2011. Jennifer was also a member of the City of Greeley’s Civil Service Commission from 2005-2011, and served as the Municipal Court Judge for the Town of Kersey from 2004-2011.
Jennifer routinely gives presentations on real estate law, business law, and ethics. She received the Weld County Bar Association’s Andrew Borg Award recognizing pro bono service in 2009. Ms. Peters was named a Rising Star by Colorado Super Lawyers Magazine in both 2011 and 2012, and has been recognized as a SuperLawyer for the past five years.
Jennifer has argued appellate cases in the Colorado Court of Appeals, Colorado Supreme Court and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, and tried numerous bench and jury trials in Colorado and Texas. Her published cases include the following:
