Amy A. Shwed is a partner in the firm’s Scranton office. She concentrates her practice in medical malpractice defense. She also successfully represents physicians on professional issues before the Pennsylvania Licensing Bureau.
Ms. Shwed served for more than a decade as Deputy District Attorney for Lackawanna County. She then continued her successful litigation career by defending physicians and hospitals in medical malpractice trials at a local Scranton firm before joining Cipriani & Werner in 2015.
Since 2001, Ms. Shwed has dedicated her practice to medical malpractice litigation. She has successfully defended physicians, healthcare providers and hospital entities in counties throughout Pennsylvania. Having participated in over 100 jury trials, she has established herself as a well-respected and experienced trial attorney. She also possesses extensive experience in civil, personal injury and insurance litigation.
Ms. Shwed is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
She has been the recipient of two community service awards for her work with domestic violence.
Ms. Shwed received her B.A. from College Misericordia in 1988 and her J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1991.
