Thomas was born in Jesup, Georgia, and completed his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in international business and corporate law at Mercer University. As a student, he participated in international exchange programs at both Oxford University, in Oxford, England, and Bond University, in Queensland, Australia. Thomas’s diligence and commitment to his education led to a Magna Cum Laude graduation and immediate acceptance into Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law.
His performance in law school earned Thomas a place among the top five percent of his class and led to several prestigious honors (see awards and recognition). To further his knowledge and skills, he earned his Advanced Certification in Legal Writing and served in clerkship positions in the Macon Judicial Circuit Court and United States District Court, Middle District of Georgia; all while working hard to finish his law degree. All of this culminated in a Cum Laude Juris Doctorate and immediate selection as an Associate Attorney at Hunton and Williams, LLP, one of the largest international law firms in the country.
In less than two years’ time at Hunton and Williams, LLP, he was offered a position as a Managing Partner at McCalla Raymer, LLC, one of the largest Regional Law Firms in the United States. While there, he served as lead counsel in over 500 cases in business and financial services litigation and achieved an over 99% success rate in final rulings.
After twelve years in the big city of Atlanta, Thomas’s passion for people compelled him to move closer to home and establish his own law firm, Howell Law LLC, in Statesboro, Georgia. With the goal of making reliable and effective legal counsel affordable to all, Thomas now strives to provide unparalleled service through reliable communication, heartfelt compassion, and unyielding determination to get his clients the results they need.
Thomas is licensed to practice law in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi. He is admitted to all federal and state courts in these states and has over 15 years of experience representing cases from the district court level all the way up to the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Georgia Supreme Court.
A standout in the field of law, Thomas was recognized as an Elite Lawyer in 2021, and a ‘Lawyer of Distinction’ in 2022 and still holds both titles today (see awards and recognition for more details!).
