Amelia Roberts is a native of Chattanooga. She attended Hixson High School and then obtained her B.A. from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1999, where she attended as a Chapin-Thomas Scholar.
Amelia has litigated thousands of bankruptcy cases along with numerous family law, personal injury, and civil rights matters, and focuses her practice in these areas. She frequently represents debtors in consumer bankruptcy, divorce, and child support cases. She has also served as a special judge in the Hamilton County General Sessions Court.
As an attorney, Amelia represented the families in two cases that involved the largest settlements paid by the City of Chattanooga at the time for civil rights violations. She is also a successful appellate attorney, winning an important victory for injury victims in the Tennessee Supreme Court in a case against Wal-Mart.
