Adam is an experienced trial lawyer who has worked at Arnold & Itkin since 2014 where he has shown his courage and willingness to take on enormous challenges to fight for the injured and wronged. Over his career, he has handled hundreds of cases and has obtained verdicts and settlements for his clients totaling over $700,000,000. His practice focuses on catastrophic injuries, offshore incidents, Jones Act claims, 18-wheeler collisions, pharmaceutical cases, wrongful death cases, product defect cases, and hurricane claims.

When people are hurt in life-changing accidents, they need a lawyer who won’t back down from a challenge. Adam Lewis has faced some of the biggest companies in the world at trial and won. No matter how tough the fight, he’s prepared to put everything into getting his clients the best results.

Over his career at Arnold & Itkin, Adam has acted as trial counsel and lead trial counsel in record-setting jury verdicts. In 2018, Adam was part of the trial team that secured a $33 million verdict obtained related to a pulp and paper explosion that was tried in Harris County, Texas. This was a top 20 jury verdict in the State of Texas that year. In 2020, Adam acted as lead trial counsel for a woman who was injured in a serious motor vehicle accident case in Brazos County, Texas. After aggressively trying the case, Adam and his team were able to secure a favorable verdict that is one of the largest jury verdicts in Brazos County, Texas over the past decade. This was the top 23 jury verdict in the State of Texas for 2020.

In 2021, Adam acted as lead trial counsel representing three Jones Act seamen in a case involving a large commercial vessel the caused multiple allisions on the Mississippi River. In this case, the vessel owner attempted to avoid responsibility by filing a lawsuit under the antiquated Limitation of Liability Act of 1851. This 170-year-old law allows fleet owners and shipping companies to hide behind the value of their ship after they’ve committed acts of negligence. For instance, if a crew member is injured in an offshore incident, the company can limit the worker’s total recovery to the ship’s monetary worth. In situations where a ship is completely lost, a company can limit a worker’s recovery to zero—essentially robbing them of compensation. Adam tried that case in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana involving a $139 million limitation fund. After an extensive trial, Adam and his team secured a favorable verdict where the Court found the vessel owner and operator 100% liable for a catastrophic vessel allision and “busted” the limitation.

He is licensed to practice law in Texas and Louisiana.

Outside of work, Adam enjoys spending time with his wife Sarah, their twins George and Grace Louise, as well as cheering on the Houston Astros and Texas Tech football.

Adam’s practice focuses primarily on catastrophic personal injury, maritime and offshore cases, commercial vehicle cases, premises liability, and wrongful death. He’s worked on all manner of cases—from disasters reported on nationally to serious accidents at the local level. Whatever his clients are facing, he’s prepared to take on any challenge for his clients.

Adam Lewis was born in Clear Lake, Texas. His father worked his entire career in the oil and gas industry, so Adam grew up living in Texas, Louisiana, Nigeria, Scotland, and England.
